New Year, New Ritual

Each year I make sure to perform a ritual. A way to say goodbye to the previous year and hello to the new one. This year, I’ve decided to try something a little different: an ongoing ritual.

Rather than save up all my energy and intention for New Year’s Eve, I decided to go in a bit earlier this year. And wouldn’t you know it, the new moon decided to help out a bit with it as well.

Starting three days prior to the new moon (December 20th) I took some time to release that which no longer served my highest good. Then, on the winter solstice (the longest night of the year), I decided to deepen that release–get into all the nooks and crannies, if you will–and also set the intention for the coming new year.

I’ll sleep with those new intentions under my pillow until the night of the new moon when I’ll take a moment to create a sigil to encase and amplify those intentions at which point I’ll merge them together and bury them in order to grow into fruition.

This was a fun way switch up to my normal new year ritual and we’ll see how the results pan out.
